There are indeed certain skills in placing shelves. Reasonable shelf placement can not only improve the utilization rate of warehouse space, but also improve storage and retrieval efficiency, ensuring the safety and smoothness of warehouse operations.

1. Space planning
  • Overall planning is carried out according to the size, shape and entrance and exit locations of the warehouse.
  • Determine the placement direction of the shelves. Usually, the depth direction of the shelves is perpendicular to the driving direction of the forklift for easy operation.
2. Shelf selection
  • Choose the appropriate shelf type according to the type, size and weight of the stored goods.
  • Consider the carrying capacity, number of layers and depth of the shelves to meet different storage needs.
3. Aisle setting
  • Ensure that there is enough aisle width for forklifts and other handling equipment to pass smoothly.
  • Aisle width should take into account the minimum turning radius and operating space of the handling equipment.
4. Goods access
  • Frequently accessed goods should be placed in an easy-to-access location, such as shelves close to the aisle.
  • Heavy goods should be placed on the bottom layer of the shelves to reduce the load-bearing pressure of the lower shelves.
5. Shelf layout
  • Adopt the principle of "first in, first out" (FIFO) or "last in, first out" (LIFO) and layout according to the circulation characteristics of the goods.
  • Try to avoid dead corners between shelves to reduce space waste.

6.Safety

  • A certain distance should be maintained between shelves to prevent them from collapsing due to external forces.
  • Goods should be stacked neatly and not exceed the maximum height and load-bearing limit of the shelf design.

7.Flexibility

  • Shelf layout should have a certain degree of flexibility to adapt to possible changes in demand in the future.
  • Use adjustable shelf components to facilitate the adjustment of layer height and shelf configuration.

 8.Identification system

  • Shelves and goods should be clearly identified for quick positioning and access.
  • Use color coding or digital coding systems to improve management efficiency.

 9.Environmental factors

  • Consider the ventilation, lighting and temperature conditions in the warehouse to ensure that shelf placement does not affect these environmental factors.

Through the above techniques, the rationality of shelf placement can be effectively improved and the overall operational efficiency of the warehouse can be improved.
